NACTAL National President visits Azzawaj Women & Children Intervention Centre, pledges more support for member organizations

The National President of the Network of Civil Society Organizations Against Child
Trafficking, Abuse and Labour (NACTAL), Abdulganiyu Abubabar, paid an official visit to
the head office of Azzawaj Women & Children Intervention Centre (AWIC) in Abuja
recently.
The visit was part of the efforts of NACTAL’s leadership to familiarize with member
organizations and also allowed the sharing of some of the recent achievements and successes
of NACTAL. Two officials from NACTAL National Head office, Paulinus Odey, the Project
Manager; and Georgina Atu-Umaru, a Project Officer, accompanied the president on the visit
which also allowed them to be acquainted with the programmes and activities of AWIC
especially as it related to child trafficking and labour matters.


Speaking during the meeting, Mr Abdulganiyu restated the commitment of NACTAL Nigeria
to reducing the scourge of child trafficking and abuse in the country and called for increased
actions. Equally, he commended AWIC on its social approach to child trafficking and labour
issues and reiterated the commitment of NACTAL Nigeria to support member organizations
to achieve their mission in the light of the objectives of NACTAL.
In her remarks, the Executive Director, AWIC, Asmau Abe Wala, expressed gratitude to
NACTAL’s President and his team for the visit and lauded the efforts of NACTAL’s
leadership for driving the ideals and vision of the network, particularly in the FCT.
She noted that since joining NACTAL about a year ago, the programmes and activities of the
FCT Chapter have greatly enriched the body of work of AWIC. Mrs Wala emphasized the
need for strong partnerships between member organizations and NACTAL to achieve the
broader objectives of the Network for the good of society. She solicited more support from
NACTAL headquarters to advance some of the programmes of AWIC.
