Asma’u spent most of her professional life in public service, mainly working across several departments of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA). With over 35 years experience in public sector management, public policy, operations, inspection and evaluation, Asma’u has the breadth and depth of experience in social development and providing solutions for the improvement of the livelihood of vulnerable populations. In the course of her sterling public sector career, she held several key positions, rising through the ranks to become Director, Gender Development before her retirement in 2017. She has attended several local and international trainings on women leadership development, gender and social development, small business development, and poverty alleviation. Upon her retirement, she founded Azzawaj Women & Children Intervention Centre the same year to continue her passion of assisting the vulnerable and less privileged in society. As Chief Executive Officer, she provides quality leadership to Board and management to deliver on the vision of the organization.
